Irish Lotto Odds and Prize

The Irish Lotto has an advantage over many other lottery tickets around the world, and the chances of winning a jackpot are relatively high. By correctly matching six of the 47 numbers, the odds of winning the Irish Lotto Award are currently 1 in 10,737,573.

Lotto Plus 1 Odds

Spending an extra 2 euros to play the Irish Lotto Plus 1 and Plus 2 can increase your chance to win a tenth!

Since these two additional games also require players to select six numbers from 1 to 47, the odds of winning each award level are exactly the same as the main lottery draw. The key difference is that the Lotto Plus bonus value is fixed, which means that the amount of bonus you can win per week is the same.

Jackpot Cap

Lotto's current jackpot limit is €14.96 million. Once the jackpot reaches or exceeds the maximum amount, it won't accumulate bonuses. If there is no winner of the 6th match in the draw after reaching the upper limit, the lottery sales amount that would have been added from the next draw will be used to increase the prize pool of the next winning level (probably 5 + bonus ball) .

If the winning amount is higher than 18.99 million euros, the amount will become the current new winning limit for the game.

The biggest jackpot so far

The largest Irish Lotto jackpot in the history of the game has been paid to 16 quarry workers in Bennekerry, Co Carlow. The team worked in the garage of Dan Morrissey Ltd. They demanded €18.9 million in the draw on June 28, 2008, and each person's prize was about €1.2 million!
