How to Play UK 49s Lotto, Info, Rules, Guides
49's is a twice daily draw that takes place at lunchtime (12.49) and teatime (16:49 Oct – Feb and 17.49 Feb - Oct) everyday. Times may vary so please check with your bookmaker daily. Six numbers plus a bonus number known as the "Booster" are drawn from balls marked 1-49. You can play either the 6 or 7 number draw (which includes the Booster ball to increase your chances of winning).
How to Play the UK49's
This is where we start to veer off away from the regular lotteries that you know and how they work. The UK 49s does not work like them, none of them. Firstly, the draw is a 6 or 7 number draw but you can pick just 1 ball to play. In comparison, to play any other major lottery it is required that you choose the same amount of balls as will be drawn in total.
But if you decide to only play with one ball picked, you can only expect to match 1 ball in the 6-ball drawing and your odds will reflect this. However, the odds of playing only 1 ball in the UK49’s is 6 to 1. If you bet $1 and your ball is drawn, you will receive $6 including your initial stake back.
In the UK49’s you can pick to play from only 1 ball all the way up to 6 balls, with your odds multiplying every additional ball you choose to add. This is a much-loved feature of the UK49’s as it puts full control into the player’s hands. Feeling Lucky? play a 6-ball UK49’s, not feeling lucky but still want to play? Opt for the 1-ball option, it is totally up to you.
UK49’s Lunchtime Draw
The UK49’s lunchtime draw takes place, as you might have guessed, every day at lunchtime. The lunchtime draw happens 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The time of the lunchtime draw can change slightly day to day but the vast majority of the draws will take place at the usual time – 12:49 pm GMT. This may vary from time to time so please be sure to check with your UK49’s lotto provider just in case.
UK49’s Teatime Draw
The second and last UK 49s draw of the day is the Teatime draw. As with the lunchtime draw, it is possible that the times may vary but as a general rule. The Teatime draw takes place 4:49 pm GMT. Just as with the lunchtime draw, this a lotto that draws every day of the week, every week of the month & every month of the year! The teatime UK49 draw is a more popular lottery than the lunchtime draw. However, this is not due to any advantage or bonus when playing the latter draw, simply more time in the day to sell tickets.
How to Win
Increase your odds at winning the UK 49s or any other lottery game by studying the hot and cold numbers, or any other number patterns that you can find. ‘Cold numbers’ are any number that has not been drawn in 10 draws or more. Conversely, ‘hot numbers’ are numbers that have been drawn two times or more in the last 10 draws.
Another useful strategy when choosing UK 49s numbers or any other lottery numbers is to avoid any calendar dates. A common strategy when picky lucky UK 49s numbers is to use dates such as birthdays, anniversaries or other significant calendar dates. The problem here is that because each month only goes up to a maximum of 31 you are excluding a significant portion of the number pool and thereby lowering your chances at winning a UK 49s prize.
UK 49s Lottery History
The 49s lottery is run by 49s Limited, a lottery company based in London, United Kingdom. The limited company is funded by the subscription fees paid to Sateliite Information Services (SIS) who operate the main television services in most UK bookmaker shops.
The 49s was started in 1996 in response to the launch of the national lottery in the UK and has operated, twice daily, since its inception.
Betting shop customers and those who hold accounts with online bookmakers can place fixed odds bets on the 49s with varying odds, depending on the number of balls chosen and the type of bet placed. Different bookmakers may have greatly differing odds on each number of balls, you should use the best odds tables above to compare odds, follow the links to the bookmakers and place your bet directly.
How To Calculate UK 49s Winning Numbers
Is there a foolproof method to calculate the UK 49s winning numbers? Here are some tips for you to use when you want to calculate your UK 49s winning numbers or any other winning lottery numbers:
Spread your numbers. Studies done across over 1,000 different lottery draws, including UK 49s draws, have determined that over 80% of jackpot and other high tier lotto wins are made up of an equal spread between high and low numbers.
Don’t play UK 49s ‘patterns’. A very common strategy among UK 49s players is to use patterns. Players use patterns such as ‘M’ or ‘X’ on the card when choosing UK 49s numbers, and because this is such a common strategy it means that if you win you will have to split the prize with everyone else that used the same method.
Play consistently. It might seem like stating the obvious but plenty of lottery players have seen their lucky numbers being drawn only to have forgotten to buy a ticket that week! Playing UK 49s online or any other lottery online allows you to purchase your tickets in advance to make sure you never miss a draw!
